We are wholly owned by The Guinness Partnership, which means we operate with the same ethical values as social housing providers.

History

City Response Limited was established on 27th July 2002 following the acquisition of company G F Sharp & Co Ltd by Northern Counties Housing Association.

Here’s a brief history of the company;

1966

G F Sharp & Co Ltd (GFS) established in Wishaw, Lanarkshire

1996

GFS Leeds office starts work for Northern Counties Housing Association

2002

GFS goes into receivership

2002

GFS acquired by Northern Counties and rebranded as City Response

2005

City Response moves to its current head office in Chadderton, Oldham

2005

Rotherham-based contractor Jay Property Services acquired and becomes known as CR2

2007

Northern Counties joins The Guinness Partnership and becomes Guinness Northern Counties

2007

New premises open in Holmewood, Chesterfield to support works in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire

2007

CR2 operations are brought under the name of City Response Limited

2012

Investor in People Gold Award

2012

Ownership of City Response transfers to The Guinness Partnership

2013

Premises in Leeds and Holmewood combine and relocate to refurbished base in Barrow Hill, Chesterfield

Our People

From apprentice decorators to heating engineers, our people make City Response what it is.

With over 300 employees – and more than 200 operational staff – our workforce is varied, experienced and capable of delivering work to the highest standard.

We employ a number of teams of highly motivated tradespeople who have the knowledge to get the job done. Our back room staff, who manage the work in the most effective manner, provide support through planning, customer service and assisting in the development of the business

We invest in our people and have been recognised for this with an Investor in People Gold award.

Support and training for personal development is made available to all employees, who are also encouraged to contribute to overall direction of the business.

We embrace equality and diversity in our people and we work hard to ensure that the communities that we live and work in are well represented in our business.
