Training & Apprenticeships

City Response Limited is actively involved in supporting the career development of young people through apprenticeships and further training.

We look to employ motivated young people who have the potential to become the workforce and the management of the future. Apprentices have the advantage of learning while they work and because their training is ‘hands on’ the practical skills they gain are invaluable.

All of our apprentices work towards obtaining their NVQ3 Level 3 qualifications and many are now working as fully qualified tradespeople and members of staff within the organisation.

Meet Liam…

Title: Apprentice Electrician
Department: Responsive Repairs East

Liam Nelson

If you are interested in pursuing a career as a plumber, electrician, joiner, plasterer or business administrator then get in touch here.

In the summer of 2013, Liam Nelson was working at McDonald’s in Chesterfield after being made redundant from his last apprenticeship. Not resting on his laurels, the 22-year-old seized an opportunity to get noticed by City Response and hasn’t looked back.

It was an open day for the new City Response premises in Barrow Hill, Chesterfield in June 2013 that gave Liam the perfect chance to introduce himself to the business.

Liam is now working as an apprentice electrician in the Responsive Repairs department, and is always looking for opportunities to develop his skills across the business.

Social Responsibility

At City Response we are always looking at ways to develop links into local neighbourhoods, and continually aspire to represent the communities that we live and work in.

Establishing our new base in Barrow Hill, Chesterfield has given us the perfect opportunity to do just that.

From an open day for residents and businesses to supporting the local schools’ clubs and activities, we are always looking for opportunities to build links which will hopefully lead to the recruitment and development of people who are our neighbours.

We have established a strong relationship with social enterprise Upturn, who provides support in recruiting from the local areas that City Response has a presence in. Upturn has helped us reach people we might not normally have recruited through traditional methods, and we look forward to continuing this relationship.

Environmental Impact

We are passionate about managing our impact on the environment, and have received recognition from various authorities, including Green Deal accreditation.

We have implemented a number of ‘green’ practices including;

  • Helping customers out of fuel poverty by installing energy efficient products in their homes
  • Increasing our recycled waste to 98%
  • Reducing our energy usage through installing new technologies

Our premises in Barrow Hill, Chesterfield, were renovated from a former van depot using numerous environmental initiatives and allowed us to establish green practices in the day-to-day operations that take place on-site.
